Nomination guidelines
Tennessee Clean Water Network is accepting nominations for the 2007 Bill Russell River Hero. Nominees will have helped protect, restore and enhance the watersheds of Tennessee and the communities that depend on them - TCWN’s mission. These individuals should also demonstrate values central to TCWN’s mission, which are: the ability to bring the public together to hold polluters accountable and make government enforce clean water laws that protect our clean water. The award is designed to recognize Tennesseans who have employed unique strategies to protect our waters and inspired others to work for stronger watershed communities. Nominees should be residents of Tennessee.
Number of nominations, achievement in water resource protection, and demonstration of TCWN’s core values will be used as selection criteria. Complete the form below to nominate your choice for the 2007 Bill Russell River Hero Award. The deadline for submission is 5 PM, Eastern Time, March 9, 2007. The River Hero Selection Committee will choose the 2007 Hero in March. Please provide all information requested in the nomination form.
Please note that we are extending our categories this year to include: Individuals, Media, Elected Officials and Citizen Action Groups. Please indicate the category of your nomination of the Information Form. The Individual Award will be given to the person who has shown dedication to and great effort in protecting his/her watershed, river or local water body. With the Media Award, we wish to honor a reporter or media news outlet for their commitment to supportive coverage of stories and events leading to increased awareness of water issues and protection of Tennessee’s waters. The Elected Officials Award will be given to the elected official who has sponsored and voted favorably for positive environmental legislation, demonstrated a commitment to support their constituents to protect their water resources. Finally, we seek to honor the Citizen Action Group that has been most effective and has had the most impact on Tennessee water quality through their organization, commitment and creative strategies. One award will be given per category.
