Hearings

Page Image:

Under state and federal rules, the public has a right to know about pollution in their communities and to have a voice about decisions that affect their lives. To this end, TCWN publishes public notices on our bi-weekly enews and we will keep a list of hearings that we are particularly interested in. Sign up and keep informed!

303(d) list of impaired streams is out!

The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation has proposed a draft 2010 303(d) List, the official list of impaired waters in Tennessee.  The 303(d) List identifies stream segments that violate one or more water quality standards, or are documented as threatened by pollutants.  These segments are then prioritized for a specialized water quality study of the identified pollutants known as a TMDL.

Although the development of this document is neither a regulatory promulgation nor an action of the Water Quality Control Board, it is subject to public review and comment, and must ultimately be approved by the Environmental Protection Agency.

Below is the draft list as well as summaries of impaired waters in Knoxville, Nashville, Chattanooga, Memphis and the Tri-cities area.  If you would like an analysis on your county, let us know.
